Della Hardman Day
The annual Della Hardman Day celebrates the life of one of Oak Bluffs' Grand Dames. Della Hardman, PhD, artist, educator and writer, was a beloved resident of Martha's Vineyard for nearly 20 years prior to her death in 2005. Following a career in higher education as chairperson of the Art Department at West Virginia State College, she retired to the Vineyard and became actively involved in community life there. A series of cultural and educational programs are being planned for the 2012 celebration by the Della Hardman Day Committee comprised of year-round and seasonal residents.
