Oscar-winning documentarian John Korty explores the life of a prize Steinway grand piano, the diverse group of workers who restore it, and the student competition to win it. Vineyarder David Stanwood is featured in the film, as are his revolutionary new techniques for piano-building. As we learn about the inner workings of a piano, creative ways to improve the American workplace are also explored. John Lithgow narrates and is accompanied by the masterful playing of the six Berkeley piano students competing for the prize.
