Two teenagers forge an unlikely friendship over the course of a hot summer in London. Tomo is a runaway from Nottingham. Marek is a Polish immigrant living in the district of Somers Town, where his dad is working on a new rail link. When Marek agrees to let the homeless Tomo move into his room, unbeknownst to his father, the two lads form a strong bond as they work odd jobs and compete for the attention of a beautiful young French waitress. At times hilarious, at others poignant, these gritty character sketches illustrate director Shane Meadows's ability to capture the turning point between childhood and maturity.
